Our Vision
Lan Yang Girls’ Senior High School is a public school for academically talented young women drawn from the rich diversity of the northeastern part of Taiwan.
Our Traditions
Lan Yang Girls’ Senior High School was founded in 1938. It was the first secondary school established in Yilan county. It continues to exist as a school for the academically talented, providing young students with outstanding opportunities for scholarship, leadership, and service. Its' motto, "Truth, Goodness, beauty”, is embodied in the acts and spirits of the students and the schoolfellows. Our school has had a reputation for artistic and linguistic excellence in Yilan county.
Our Mission
Our mission is to challenge students to reach their academic and social potentials, and to graduate students who will treat others compassionately and live lives of personal integrity. This will be accomplished in a safe, nurturing environment that challenges the intellect, provides an enriching extracurricular program, embraces diversity and encourages ethical behavior.
General Background Information
Campus description
Our school covers an area of 45,816 square meters. There are ten buildings around the playground, including the administration building, education building, dance building, science building, gym, auditorium, activity center, art building, library, and music building. A brand-new four-story science building is under construction now. It will be finished by the end of 2008.
Student & faculty
Currently, we have 42 classes in total, including three language honor classes, three math/science classes, and three dance honor classes. Each class has around 40-45 students. The total faculty number is approximately 100.
School position
The school is situated in Yilan city, the biggest city in Yialn county, located in Northeastern Taiwan. It’s about 1.3 kilometers from the train station, and an hour’s drive away from Taipei, the capital of Taiwan.
Annual activities
There are events such as School Anniversary Carnival, Chinese & English Playlet Contest, English Speech Contest, school orchestra performances, sports contests, self-exploration workshops, science and art camps on holidays, to name just a few.
